“Palette of Jeans” selected for Abstract Art Quilt Book

We are so excited – Betty Anne Guadalupe’s recycled jeans quilt: Palette of Jeans, was selected to be in Art Quilt Inspirations: Abstracts to be published by Interweave in Spring 2016! Betty Anne was notified by SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) Executive Director that her piece was one of 95 pieces selected for the book from over 1350 submissions from 462 artists. The final decision whether Palette of Jeans will be in the book will be made by Interweave’s Art Department – and we have our fingers crossed!

We had a little drama getting the required photo to the SAQA Executive Director – the version we originally submitted was too small/too low a resolution for publication. There was an approaching deadline for a photo with the required resolution, Thanksgiving weekend was quickly closing in upon us and no professional quilt photographers were available. Luckily a friend of Betty Anne’s connected her with the lovely Paige Vitek at the Stitchin’ Post in Sisters, Oregon, who saved the day!

We are new to submitted quilts for publication and to juried shows. Luckily we have professional art quilter friends and mentors helping guide us!

If you would like to read Tierney’s scary mailing experience sending her first quilt to a juried show, please see her post from her tierneycreates blog “True Tale of Shipping Terror (and Packaging Obsessions)”.
